-Testing Your Water With-
-The Pool Store-
At The Pool Store, we take pride in our vast experience and mastery of pool chemistry.

In the store Judi and Kelli have the combined water testing expertise of over 30 years. They love the challenge of "How fast can we clear this pool", combining both chemical efficiency with cost efficiency to ensure the best results for you, your pool, and the planet.

When having your pool/ spa water tested at The Pool Store, we ask that you bring plenty of water so that we can extensively analyze it. Any full drinking bottle (Roughly 500ml) should work perfectly.

We test water the old school way, with DPD tablets, chlorine neutralizers, phenol red indicators and titration.
Along with a backup spin lab system.

-Chemistry Basics-

The table above shows swimming wait times and the reactivity between certain chemicals.
It is important to be aware of the dangers of adding and mixing chemicals at all times. This table is just a guideline and should be used with caution.
Wait times may vary depending on size of pool and quantity of chemical added. The order in which you add the chemicals also effects reactivity.
See water chemistry professionals (Judi or Kelli) in the store for more details.

It is also important to remember that ideal ranges for specific chemicals differ from pool to pool. Different systems all require different ideal chemical ranges.
For example Chlorine, Salt, and Copper pools are all different just as Vinyl, Concrete, and Fiber glass pools are different (as are cartridge, sand, and D.E filters).
When having your water tested with The Pool Store please let us know what kind of system/ pool you have so that we can tailor your pool prescription. We also need to know the size and depth of the pool to calculate proper chemical quantities.

We always recommend testing your water with a test strip at least once a week and always after rain/ lightning storms. Environmental factors cause the largest impact on pool chemistry and sometimes you won't be able to see the difference in the water until it is too late. Other considerations when thinking about factors that change your chemistry are bather load, pool size, equipment efficiency, sun exposure, backyard environment, bird poo, tree proximity, and more.
Every backyard is different but once you get the hang of it pool chemistry is easy. So come on down to The Pool Store and let us teach you how to master your pool!
